Had a bowl of chowder and tomato and cheese sandwich, took home a loaf of anadama. All very good.
Yes, there is limited seating and they aren't open all hours of the day, but that all adds to the experience. So, bring a good attitude, some cash, and leave your phone at home (or turned off) and try the Friars'. You won't regret it!
Two friendly Franciscan brothers run this bakery. We got a very good blueberry muffin and a raisin walnut scone. They keep very specific hours so be sure to check that they're open before you go.
Big portions of delicious, home-cooked food. Sandwiches, pizzas, chicken pot pie, brownies, cookies, etc...everything is delicious! Just something to note...their menu changes daily, so check their Facebook page if you'd like to know what they're serving up before you visit.
You must try the anadama bread! Great place to stop for lunch.
