I have been to Top Care twice since march of this year. I had a pedicure both times. The first was awesome! My feet felt amazing and toe nails looked great for weeks, the second time I went I was not so happy with the service. The whole thing was very rushed and not relaxing at all. I chose to get the callus remover added in to the normal pedicure. The tech rubbed my toe so hard it burned it and rubbed my skin raw. Needless to say days later my toe still hurts and is red and scabbing over! :(
I had mixed feelings about going because of mixed reviews that I had read. When I called for an appointment on Sunday afternoon, he said they were closing soon but I could still come in. I went to the appointment and he let me pick what I wanted for a service. He didn't seem to rush with my service and I actually felt he spent a little more time than at my usual salon. He made some small conversation but was not a chatter box--which is what I like! I was very happy with my service and will be going back!
We made an appointment for 11 and we waited....and waited......and waited. 45 minutes later we were finally seen. Our polish was picked. I was just getting a regular manicure and pedicure while my beautiful friend was getting Gel.
To dry her toe nails, he fanned her toes with the price list. I was crying from laughing so hard.
Her fate was sealed as he started. The clippers he was using were positioned wrong. When it came time for the massage...he tickled her calf! While she is dying in agony I cannot help but let out a giggle snort. He took those clippers out an additional 2 more times, put way too many layers of polish on her toes and wait for it...heres the best part.
As we sat down in the pedicure chairs, we couldn't help but notice that they didn't sterilize all that well, which since we are from out of town we just figured they might do things a little differently in Bangor, Maine.
The older gentlemen asked us who would like to go first. He chose to start with my friends feet which I was totally fine with(and so to be relieved.)
I went to Top Care nails to get my nails done for prom, I had an appointment and it still took about an hour for them to get to me. When I sat down they asked if I wanted long or short nails, I said short, and they gave me long nails. They also filed my cuticles which hurt and when I pulled my hand back they continued to file my cuticles. (you're not supposed to cut or file your cuticles because it can cause infections) They also didn't ask me if I wanted gel on my nails or not, (I did not) so I was out almost $20. ($45 total). They do have a student discount, but you have to bring your school id in with you. The best thing about my nails is the color. It's a pale baby pink, but I wish they had asked me what I wanted before they did my nails.
My friend and I came here and it was the most terrifying experience of our life! When we first walked in, we were excited because they were super busy. We initially thought okay, this is the place to be!
I had a great experience at Top Care Nails! A couple weeks before I went to Top Care Nails, I went to a different nail place in Bangor and they made my nails look absolutely horrendous. When I went to get my nails fixed at Top Care Nails they did a phenomenal job!
Please save yourself and do not go here unless you prepared terrible experience.
