(JULY '16) Trade values are better and more in line with the competition. The Pro Gamer card they sell you turned out to be a decent value ($15 for a year of Game Informer magazine [GameStop owns this rag but it ain't bad], discounts on used games and an extra 10% or so cash / credit back on trades, plus a point based rewards system you can redeem to get prizes [I've gotten three so far]).
Very helpful and knowledgeable as well very polite. Well maintained atmosphere...
(JUNE '17) The store has been reorganized to maintain profitability in these changing times. With the trend shifting towards digital storefront sales (which GameStop does not have a piece of) that also take away from the quantity of used games on the market (which seemed to be a huge part of this stores bottom line), they have started shifting towards selling more collectibles, apparels, toys and gadgets/electronics. As of now around 50% of the store is geared towards displaying the above mentioned items.
It's the best place to shop for games. They have a great selection for all ages and play styles. The staff is usually friendly.
But this is all legitimately part of the charm. GameStop is part of 'Mericana now; its downsides begrudgingly intact — and just as charming as anything they do correctly. The selection cannot be bested. The staff are gamers and they know games. They have everything you need and more. I mean, the corporation itself and the shady septic pool of rules they force on their employees sucks. The trade values suck. Some of the policies even suck. The selection and employees far and away make up for any perceived negative that oozes from corporate GameStop however.
The staff here is so helpful that I've made this my go-to location for physical copies of games and consoles. I love that they're starting to carry model kits as well!
I mean, it's GameStop. They're gonna annoy the s**t out of you with unnecessarily long speeches when they answer the phone, and when you buy something; and they're going to annoy the s**t out of you when they try to sell you disc protection or warranties or a gamer card or a pro plan or cry hysterics if you don't preorder some crummy upcoming game; they'll probably make some biased, uninformed comment based solely on opinion to a customer while you are there, and you'll desperately want to correct them before the poor soul goes packing...
Well organized, friendly, professional staff. Helped my get a gaming controller for my son. Thnx guys
